Melrose Summerhouse and Rock Pool

Melrose Summerhouse and Rock Pool

The Melrose Summer House, named after George Heys’ Pretoria residence, Melrose House can be found several hundred meters upstream of the lodge. Heysbrook’s swimming pool is a natural one formed on the Heys Brook millennia ago from molten volcanic rock. A well equipped kitchen accompanies a large bar area with loungers, chairs and tables. Ideal for lazing, reading, games and swimming, the Melrose Summer House is also suited for sundowners around the fire, evening braais and a base from which to start a walk.

Usually the go-to centre of activity during the day for most visits, Gerald, the estate manager will assist in ensuring the set-up for your braai or pool-side meal.  Swimming in the natural pool is invigorating (a euphemism for “often chilly”) and safe. Please use the pool towels you’ll find in your bathroom.
